What Is A Pod?

First of all, when it comes to talking about creating your own podcast, it is important to understand some basic information regarding the use of a pod. Specifically, a pod is a small electronic portable unit that generally uses MP3 formatting to listen to various audio programming. Some of the programming can be music, conversations or downloading various dialogues from individuals or different websites.

Usually, a pod is utilized to create or listen to a podcast. When an individual wants to listen to a podcast they will download the data from a website and place it on their pod. Following this action, the individual can then listen to what is being spoken or the music that is being played through a personal set of earphones. This whole process is extremely convenient and beneficial to those individuals who are on the go.

The word podcast is derived by combining two words together. Specifically, those two words are pod, which means portable on-demand, and the latter part of the word broadcast. Hence, the combination of these two words combines to form the word and activity known as a podcast.

How To Create Your Own Podcast

In addition to downloading and listening to other podcasts, the individual can create their own podcast. Therefore, if wishing to express one's self in this convenient manner, it is important to know how to create a podcast.

In order to create your own podcast there are three major tools that are required. First of all, the individual needs a quality microphone to begin the process of capturing the words used to express one's thoughts.

Secondly, the individual will need computer software in order to record the verbal message. Often, the operating system that is installed on the computer will have a simple recording software that can be utilized. However, one may want to consider purchasing recording software so that editing can be accomplished.

Finally, if an individual plans to disseminate this podcast to other individuals they will need to set up their own website. This step is important because it allows other individuals to download the podcast and listen to what messaging the individual wishes to convey.
